Karnataka CM Challenges Governor's Sanction to Prosecute in MUDA Scam

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has filed a petition in the Karnataka High Court against Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's approval to prosecute him over the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority scam. Accusations of political motivations underpin the dispute, with Siddaramaiah confident of his innocence and party support.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday approached the Karnataka High Court to challenge Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot's recent approval to prosecute him concerning the alleged MUDA (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) scam. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi, representing Siddaramaiah, argued that the Governor's sanction is tainted and part of a political strategy to destabilize the Karnataka government.

Earlier today, CM Siddaramaiah expressed his confidence in obtaining relief from the court, declaring that he has done nothing wrong. He conveyed that his petition includes a request for interim relief to halt the prosecution. Assured by his clear conscience and four-decade-long unblemished political career, Siddaramaiah emphasized that the people of the state understand his integrity.

In response to the BJP's demands for his resignation, Siddaramaiah accused the BJP, JDS, and the central government of conspiring against him using the Governor's office. He vowed to fight the allegations both legally and politically. Meanwhile, Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar alleged a conspiracy to misuse the Governor's office to destabilize the Congress government and reaffirmed that the entire party stands behind Siddaramaiah.
