Punjab Agent Arrested for Fake Bahrain Visa Scam

A Punjab-based agent and an accomplice were arrested for arranging a fake Bahrain visa for a passenger, who was deported back to India. The investigation revealed a network of fraudulent agents duping people. The case was registered at IGI Airport Police Station, Delhi.

A Punjab-based agent and his accomplice were apprehended on August 8 for orchestrating a fraudulent visa racket that led to a passenger being denied entry at Bahrain airport. The passenger, Rakesh, was deported back to India upon discovery that his work visa was fake. The case is being investigated by the IGI Airport Police Station in Delhi, and Rakesh has also been arrested under pertinent sections of the BNS and Passports Act.

During the investigation, Rakesh disclosed that several friends from his village had gone abroad for better financial prospects, prompting his decision to seek employment in an Arab country. He was introduced to an agent named Abhinandan Kumar, who promised to arrange a Bahrain visa for Rs 1.10 lakhs. The agent procured both a ticket and a visa for Rakesh, who later found out the visa was fraudulent, leading to his deportation.

The probe further resulted in the arrest of Abhinandan, who divulged the involvement of an accomplice, Bikramjeet. Acting on inputs from local intelligence and surveillance, a team led by Inspector Sumit of IGI airport arrested 25-year-old Bikramjeet from his hideout in Gurdaspur, Punjab. Under sustained interrogation, Bikramjeet admitted to collaborating with Abhinandan to scam people by promising them overseas jobs. Bikramjeet revealed he had received Rs 80,000 from Abhinandan as part of their arrangement to provide a fake visa and ticket to Rakesh. (ANI)
