NCP chief Sharad Pawar, joined by Maha Vikas Aghadi leaders, led a protest in Pune against the recent sexual assault of two minor girls at a school in Badlapur. The demonstrators, donning black bands, stood in the rain to voice their outrage.
Sharad Pawar criticized the government, emphasizing the frequency of crimes against women in Maharashtra. He condemned the government's attitude, calling it insensitive for dismissing the opposition's actions as mere politics. NCP MP Supriya Sule vowed to continue protesting until the accused are brought to justice.
Sule pointed out the increasing incidents of violence against women and condemned the lack of fear of police among the people. She refuted claims that the protesters in Badlapur were outsiders, stressing they were all Indians. She pledged continued protests until the accused's arrest. Meanwhile, a special investigation team has filed an FIR against the school authorities for not reporting the assault as required under the POCSO Act.
The alleged sexual assault of two fourth-grade girls at a school in Maharashtra's Badlapur has ignited public anger. On August 17, police arrested a school attendant suspected of abusing the girls. (ANI)
