In a significant ruling, the Kolkata High Court has mandated the release of the appointment list for upper primary teachers, potentially benefiting 14,000 candidates. The division bench, comprising Justices Tapabrata Chakraborty and Parthasarathi Chattopadhyay, directed the School Service Commission to publish the final list within four weeks. Post-publication, counselling will be conducted.

The court's decision comes as a resolution to a nine-year-old issue regarding teacher appointments. Lawyer Firdaus Shamim noted that the School Service Commission had previously invalidated the selection of 1,463 candidates due to errors in the "updated interview OMR seats."

The court has ordered these candidates be reinstated into the merit list, and counselling be provided for the 14,052 candidates currently on the list, finding the Commission's previous merit list incorrect. (ANI)
