An Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter, assisting the Gujarat government during the flood crisis, rescued four individuals from Devbhumi Dwarka on Thursday, according to IAF officials. The rescue operation took place in the flood-affected Kalyanpur tehsil.

Meanwhile, six columns of the Indian Army are performing rescue operations in the most severely impacted regions as the state battles continuous heavy rainfall. The Army has been deployed to bolster ongoing relief efforts.

"In response to the severe flooding across several districts, the Indian Army rapidly mobilized its resources to support the extensive relief efforts. Following a request from the Gujarat State Government, six Army columns are executing rescue missions in the worst-hit areas, providing immediate Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR)," the Army stated on August 29. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has already rescued 95 people.

Inspector Manjit from the NDRF noted that Dwarka has experienced significant rainfall over the past two days. "Over the last two days, heavy rainfall has affected Dwarka. Water has infiltrated homes, and our team has rescued 95 individuals," Manjit reported on Wednesday. The India Meteorological Department forecasts more rain for the state today.

"Extremely heavy rainfall is expected over Saurashtra and Kutch. Very heavy rainfall may occur across Gujarat," the department stated on X. Gujarat Health Minister Rushikesh Patel mentioned that over 5,000 people have been rehabilitated and more than 12,000 rescued from the floods affecting Vadodara.

In an interview with ANI on Wednesday, Patel stated, "We have rehabilitated over 5,000 individuals and rescued more than 12,000 people so far. The Vishwamitri River has overflowed into Vadodara, and water has encroached on both banks. We have arranged all necessary facilities like food and medicines for those affected." Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel of full support from the Central government during a telephone conversation.

"The Prime Minister provided guidance on protecting lives and livestock. Gujarat has been assured of receiving all necessary support and assistance from the Central Government," CM Patel posted on X on August 28. (ANI)
