In a tragic road accident in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, 12 people lost their lives and 16 others were injured following a collision between a bus and a loader vehicle. The incident occurred during an overtaking maneuver on a highway, as confirmed by Hathras DM, Ashish Kumar, to ANI.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed profound grief over the loss of lives and extended condolences to the bereaved families. He assured that the administration has been directed to provide proper treatment for the injured. 'The loss of life in a road accident in Hathras district is extremely sad. My condolences are with the grieving families,' CM Yogi stated in a post on X.
Joining the condolences, President of India, Draupadi Murmu, expressed her deepest sympathies to the affected families and wished for a speedy recovery for those injured. In a further show of support, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for the relatives of the deceased and Rs 50,000 for the injured. The PMO emphasized that the local and state administrations are providing all necessary assistance to the victims.
