Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the International Solar Festival 2024, organized by the International Solar Alliance (ISA) on September 5-6. The ISA, comprising 119 member countries, aims to promote solar energy globally, especially in developing nations.
During his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need to balance renewable energy investments, urging for democratization of solar manufacturing and technology to benefit developing countries. He reaffirmed India's commitment to a green and inclusive future through the ISA's global policies and actions.
Highlighting India's role, Shri Pralhad Joshi, Minister of New and Renewable Energy and President of the ISA Assembly, stated that India supports an inclusive and sustainable future, as demonstrated by its clean energy initiatives. Meanwhile, ISA's Director General Dr. Ajay Mathur lauded solar energy's global growth, stressing the importance of expanding access to underserved regions. The festival saw the ISA entering discussions with Africa50 for managing a $200 million Africa Solar Facility to boost solar investment in Africa.
