The highly anticipated Cauvery Phase 5 project, aimed at delivering water to every corner of Bengaluru, will launch during Dasara, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and Bengaluru Urban Development Minister DK Shivakumar revealed. He emphasized the government's commitment to making Bengaluru a water-surplus city.

During an inspection of the ongoing works, Shivakumar visited key sites like Krishnapriya Kalyana Mandapa, the pipeline installations at Kengeri, and the TK Halli water treatment facility. He also reviewed the pump station at Harohalli and provided updates to the media. The Cauvery Phase 5 Water Supply Project, designed to supply water to roughly 5 million people, includes the construction of India's largest water treatment plant with a 775 MLD capacity.

Additionally, three booster pumping stations have been built at TK Halli, Harohalli, and Tataguni, enabling water to be pumped to an elevation of 450 meters through steel pipes covering about 110 kilometers, requiring 145,000 metric tonnes of steel and 2.4 crore man-hours. Upon completion, water will flow through reservoirs in multiple areas, ensuring supply to various Bengaluru suburbs. With an investment of Rs 5,550 crore, the project also addresses sewage management with a Rs 1,000 crore plan.
