On Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi, joined by fellow Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders including former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia and Minister Gopal Rai, embarked on a comprehensive road inspection in the national capital, focusing initially on the Okhla area.
This initiative is part of Delhi's broader road assessment and repair strategy, announced by the AAP government. Under this scheme, each minister is designated with specific responsibilities for different districts of the capital. Atishi is set to oversee South and South East Delhi, Saurabh Bharadwaj will manage East Delhi, Gopal Rai the North East, Imran Hussain Central and New Delhi, Kailash Gehlot the South West and Outer Delhi, and Mukesh Shehrawat the North West.
The inspections revealed severe road damage, prompting Atishi and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal to pledge swift repairs. Kejriwal emphasized that every inch of the 1400 km PWD road network will be inspected, and the aim is to provide pothole-free roads by Diwali. This plan comes after delays caused during Kejriwal's imprisonment, with the government now resuming halted works on a war footing.
