Shimla's markets buzzed with energy on Dhanteras, as residents flocked to shops to prep for Diwali. Traditional buys, like utensils and gold, marked the day, while retailers experienced mixed reactions to the online shopping trend. Jewellers thrived with special festive offers, making Diwali a significant occasion for both tradition and commerce.

Shimla's markets turned vibrant on the occasion of Dhanteras as locals flocked to stores ahead of the Diwali festivities. The capital city of Himachal Pradesh witnessed bustling activity with residents shopping for traditional items ranging from utensils to gold jewelry.

Deepaali Mehta, enthusiastic about the celebration, remarked, "Dhanteras, celebrated just two days before Diwali, brings us to the markets. This day, marked by pride, sees crowds pouring in. We hope Dhanteras will continue to be celebrated this way, while also promoting eco-friendly practices during Diwali."

Shop owners voiced mixed feelings about the retail activity. Local retailer Sunny Yadav noted the foot traffic increase but expressed worries over rising online shopping, urging customers to choose physical stores. Similarly, Neeraj Goyal highlighted robust sales but admitted online competition affected his business dynamics.

The jewelry sector beamed with success; Akshay Verma, a jeweler, emphasized the allure of special offers and discounts that attracted numerous customers. His store organized events, and the exchange of gifts, sweets, and prayers formed part of Diwali's charm, illuminating homes with hope and unity.
