The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) has imposed a total fine of $1 million on Honda and Renault-owned Alpine for procedural violations related to the 2023 cost cap for engine manufacturers. The announcement was made on Tuesday by the sport's governing body.
Honda, which is currently allied with Red Bull but has plans to partner with Aston Martin in 2026, was fined $600,000. Alpine, on the other hand, faced a $400,000 penalty. Last month, the FIA had indicated that both companies were not in breach of the $140.4 million spending limit but had procedural inconsistencies.
The sanctions were a result of inaccuracies and incomplete documentation from both firms. Noteworthy is Renault's plan to cease Formula One engine production after the forthcoming season for financial purposes, with Alpine's move to possibly switch to Mercedes engines in 2026.
