Gazprom Subsidiary Sues Linde for $879 Million Over Gas Plant Dispute
A Gazprom subsidiary has filed an $879 million legal claim against Linde and its subsidiaries in Russia. The action follows Linde's exit from Russia after the Ukraine invasion, affecting the Amur Gas Processing Plant operations. Linde had earlier announced plans to reduce its business activities in Russia.
A subsidiary of Gazprom has initiated a legal claim for 85.7 billion roubles ($879 million) against industrial gases giant Linde and its subsidiaries. The case, filed on October 29, is being processed by the Arbitration Court of the Amur Region in Russia's east.
Linde, the world's leading industrial gases company, withdrew from Russia following the country's invasion of Ukraine in 2022. This departure impacted the Amur Gas Processing Plant, which aids Russian gas exports to China. The plant started partial operations in June 2021 and aims for full capacity next year.
Since Linde's exit, several claims have been registered against the company in Russia. In a related case, a Russian court froze assets worth approximately $1.15 billion belonging to a British subsidiary of Linde over a similar gas plant dispute.
