Puerto Rico Power Grid Collapse: An Island in Darkness
Puerto Rico faced a widespread power outage as nearly 90% of the island experienced a blackout due to a grid failure. The main energy distributor, Luma Energy, reported extensive outages, with only one backup plant from power generator Genera supplying electricity.
On Tuesday morning, Puerto Rico plunged into darkness as its power grid suffered a catastrophic failure. Data revealed that nearly all of the island was without electricity.
At 9 a.m. local time, around 90% of the island's clients were without power, according to information from Luma Energy, the energy distribution company.
The power generator company, Genera, indicated that merely one backup plant was operational, underlining the severity of the outage.
