Foxconn Chairman Young Liu emphasized on Wednesday that the Taiwanese electronics giant intends to forge a strategic partnership with Japan's Nissan instead of pursuing an acquisition.

The clarification comes after Nissan, facing internal challenges, withdrew from negotiations for a merger with Honda, which would have created the third-largest automaker worldwide. As the automotive sector continues to evolve, Nissan appears receptive to Foxconn's collaborative approach, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Liu, speaking from Foxconn's headquarters in New Taipei, reiterated that purchasing Nissan shares is not in the company's plans. He further mentioned potential discussions with France's Renault, which holds a significant stake in Nissan, to explore additional collaborative opportunities.
