BHEL Secures Major Order for Koradi Thermal Power Station

State-owned engineering firm BHEL has obtained a significant order from MAHAGENCO to set up two units for the Koradi supercritical thermal power station in Nagpur. The project involves comprehensive tasks including design, engineering, and emission control equipment. BHEL supplies over 75% of MAHAGENCO’s coal-based capacity.

In a landmark development, the state-owned engineering giant, BHEL, announced its latest achievement of securing an order from MAHAGENCO to construct two units at the Koradi supercritical thermal power station, each with an impressive 1320 MW capacity, located in Nagpur.

The extensive responsibilities of BHEL in this ambitious project encompass design, engineering, manufacturing, and the entire gamut of installation and commissioning activities for the main plant package and associated auxiliaries, as well as all required electrical, civil, and structural work essentials.

Further enhancing the project’s environmental credentials, BHEL is also tasked with providing cutting-edge, high-efficiency emission control equipment. This order was clinched through a competitive domestic bidding process for Units 11 and 12 of the Koradi power station. Notably, BHEL already plays a vital role in over 75% of MAHAGENCO's coal-based capacity, which is further expanded by their ongoing 660 MW project in Bhusawal.
