In a significant law enforcement operation, Manipur Police have arrested four active members of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (People's War Group) in Imphal West district. The arrests were made on Wednesday at a camp located in Kameng Sabal, under the jurisdiction of Lamsang Police Station, authorities confirmed on Thursday.
The detained individuals, identified as Takhelmayum Victor (23), Huidrom Vikash Singh alias Sanamacha (25), Oinam Naocha alias Max (19), and Awungshi John (33), were captured with an array of items including firearms, ammunition, donation cards, and communication equipment. The cache comprised three 0.32 pistols with seven rounds, two 9mm pistols with ten rounds, an empty 9mm case, 113 donation cards, a Baofeng handset, three mobile phones, two two-wheelers, and two notebooks.
Investigations have revealed that the group had been actively involved in extortion, targeting various sectors such as shops, government employees, and pharmacies around Imphal. The police, while having taken the suspects into custody, are continuing their investigations into the group's operations and wider network.
