The Delhi High Court on Thursday addressed a plea concerning Mandoli Jail's challenge to a trial court's ruling that permits Sukesh Chandrashekhar to wear a wristwatch while incarcerated. Sukesh, a prime accused in multiple high-profile cases, including a Rs 200 crore money laundering investigation, is currently held at Central Mandoli Jail.

The plea submitted by the Jail Authority expresses concerns that allowing such privileges could undermine prison security and create a problematic precedent for other prisoners. The authority contends that the trial court's January 10, 2025 order exceeded its jurisdiction, was arbitrary, and warrants dismissal.

In light of Sukesh's unsatisfactory conduct, reflected in 11 recorded punishments, the Jail Authority highlights his involvement in 23 criminal cases. Representing Sukesh is Advocate Anant Malik. Justice Vikas Mahajan acknowledged the submission and set the next hearing for March 17. Separately, the Patiala House Court has restricted the media from labeling Sukesh as a 'Conman' in reports.
