Tejasvi Surya Applauds Karnataka CM's Response to Metro Fare Hike Backlash

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya commended Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah for addressing Bengaluru metro fare hikes after public backlash. The CM acknowledged anomalies in fare revisions and directed corrections. In a move prompted by public outcry, Bharatiya Janata Party MP Tejasvi Surya praised Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for instructing the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation to rectify recent fare hikes. Surya remarked that this decision followed severe backlash to the fare revisions, stating that the chief minister should have acted sooner.

Siddaramaiah acknowledged the issues surrounding the fare adjustment, noting discrepancies that had resulted in fares more than doubling in some areas. He has tasked the Managing Director of BMRCL to address these issues promptly and adjust the fares to reasonable levels.

The Karnataka Chief Minister's office issued a statement countering allegations by the BJP, accusing the opposition party of misleading the public. The statement highlighted the shared responsibility of metro governance between Central and State administrations, emphasizing BMRCL's autonomous operation.
