Major Cyber Heist at Chandrapur Bank

Unidentified hackers infiltrated the online infrastructure of Chandrapur District Central Cooperative Bank, executing a cyber theft of Rs 3.7 crore via unauthorized transactions, according to police reports on Thursday.

Acting quickly, the Chandrapur Police's cyber team succeeded in retrieving Rs 1.31 crore after the filing of a formal complaint, a senior officer confirmed.

The cybercriminals conducted 33 transactions through RTGS within an hour on February 7 and 10, funneling Rs 3,70,64,742 to other bank accounts in Noida and other locations. The case, logged at Ramnagar police station, falls under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act, with ongoing investigations aiming to ascertain further details.
