Crackdown in Manipur: 16 Cadres Nabbed, 23 Weapons Seized in Joint Operations

In coordinated operations by Assam Rifles and Indian Army's Spear Corps in Manipur from February 19-20, 16 cadres were apprehended, and 23 weapons were recovered across several districts, including Imphal West, Bishnupur, and Thoubal. The operations signify a major crackdown on insurgent groups and their activities in the region.

In a concerted security effort from February 19-20, Assam Rifles and the Indian Army under Spear Corps conducted intelligence-based operations in multiple districts of Manipur. These operations led to the apprehension of 16 insurgents and the seizure of 23 weapons across the state's hill and valley regions.

This crackdown included operations in Imphal West, Bishnupur, Thoubal, Tengnoupal, Jiribam, and Kakching. Key successes involved capturing three individuals in Imphal West who confirmed affiliations with the KCP (PWG) and recovering an AK series weapon, sniper rifles, and other armaments.

Additional operations on February 20 in areas like Moirang in Bishnupur and Sangaisabi in Imphal West yielded significant captures and firearms recoveries. The coordinated crackdown underscores the strategic efforts to disrupt insurgent group operations in Manipur. Detained individuals and confiscated items have been handed over to Manipur Police.
