In the wake of a catastrophic tunnel collapse at the Srisailam Dam, Telangana minister Poonam Prabhakar highlighted that the disaster occurred despite rigorous safety protocols. Speaking to ANI, he emphasized that Minister Uttam Reddy was overseeing operations and urged the public to acknowledge the government's commitment, warning against politicization of the tragedy.

Prabhakar called for collective focus on the immediate recovery of those affected, promising comprehensive government support. "Today, we must unite to save the lives of those trapped," he asserted, ensuring that all efforts are directed towards rescuing and assisting the victims.

Minister Uttam Reddy revealed the collapse was triggered by a geological fissure which was underestimated by an American company's project manager. With around 70-80 workers present, eight remain trapped. The rescue has gained momentum with the Indian Army and NDRF's involvement, supported by political leaders including Rahul Gandhi and Prime Minister Modi who have stressed collaboration in these critical operations.
