A technical glitch stalled the New Jalpaiguri-Chennai Central Express (Train No. 22861) in the Kharagpur division on Saturday, between Soro and Markona. The issue occurred at 2:45 PM, resulting in a delayed departure until 6:23 PM the same day.

Railway officials reported that loco trouble, caused by an object lying on the track, led to the stoppage. Despite the disruption, there were no derailments or injuries. The railways swiftly arranged for an alternative engine, ensuring all safety measures were adhered to before the train resumed its journey.

Consequently, several other trains experienced delays, including the 12245 Howrah-SMVT Bengaluru Express at Soro-Markona, the 68051 Baleshwar-Bhadrak MEMU at Soro, the 18045 Shalimar-Hyderabad East Coast Express at Baleshwar, and the 20889 Howrah-Tirupati Express at Rupsa. Comprehensive checks and evaluations were conducted to uphold passenger safety.
