Congress MP Calls for Extended JEE Application Deadline Amid CBSE Exam Reforms

Congress MP Manickam Tagore requested the National Testing Agency to extend the JEE Mains deadline citing server issues. Simultaneously, CBSE proposed a reform aligned with NEP 2020, introducing bi-annual Class X exams from 2025-26, aiming to reduce student stress by allowing multiple attempts to improve scores.

In New Delhi, Congress MP Manickam Tagore has urged the National Testing Agency (NTA) to extend the application deadline for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains, addressing technical glitches that hampered submissions. Tagore's plea, shared on social media platform X, highlights server slowdowns that disrupted thousands of students’ efforts during the crucial final hours.

Tagore addressed @dpradhanbjp, emphasizing that many aspirants faced difficulties due to the last-minute surge in traffic. He advocated for a two-day extension to ensure fairness, suggesting urgent intervention from the authorities. On a related note, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) announced a significant overhaul of the Class X exam system.

In line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, CBSE's proposal plans two board exams annually starting in the 2025-26 session. This change, aiming to alleviate academic stress, was presented during a Ministry of Education meeting headed by the Union Education Minister. Feedback on the draft policy, now available on the CBSE website, is solicited until early March 2025.
