Delhi Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit has intensified calls for a thorough investigation into the alleged liquor scam tied to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. Dikshit claims that the Kejriwal administration's missteps have led to a Rs 2,000 crore revenue shortfall, impacting potential public benefits.

"The narrative of revenue growth touted by Aam Aadmi Party has crumbled," Dikshit asserted, noting the significant financial loss. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta unveiled the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the liquor policy during the Assembly session. Prior to its commencement, a crucial meeting led by CM Rekha Gupta with BJP MLAs took place, addressing the report and ensuring smooth proceedings in the House.

Furthermore, Dikshit demanded a wider probe into the liquor scam, pointing fingers at both AAP and BJP for accepting donations from the contracting companies, urging an investigation. He criticized the lack of public discourse surrounding the CAG report presented in the Delhi Assembly.

Despite the report's submission, Dikshit observed the absence of debate within the Assembly, urging public platform engagement. He raised concerns over the Lieutenant Governor and BJP leaders' involvement in the liquor policy.

Dikshit questioned, "Why were multiple excise commissioners appointed during the liquor policy's framework? Why did the LG approve it? Who sanctioned liquor shops beyond the master plan's stipulations, seemingly without the Municipal Corporation's consent, then under BJP's rule?" The Delhi Assembly session's second day was marked by intensified opposition protests, leading to Speaker Vijender Gupta suspending 21 MLAs until February 28 amidst sustained slogan-chanting.

Speaker Vijender Gupta informed the press, "Today's session saw the tabling of the first CAG report. We aim to present further reports within this session, now extended to March 3." He announced the forthcoming formation of a Public Accounts Committee (PAC), featuring 12 to 14 members from both the ruling and opposition factions.

"Following House discussion, the report will advance to the PAC for scrutiny. Upon the committee offering its conclusions, appropriate legislative action will ensue," he concluded. (ANI)
