Rao and Stalin Stand United Against Proposed Delimitation Process

BRS's KT Rama Rao and Tamil Nadu's MK Stalin jointly oppose the proposed delimitation process, arguing it unfairly penalizes Southern states excelling in family planning. Rao suggests delimitation based on economic contributions, while Stalin calls for a fair approach to uphold democratic and federal principles.

In a show of solidarity, KT Rama Rao, the working president of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and MLA from Siricilla, has thrown his weight behind Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin's firm opposition to the central government’s proposed delimitation process. Rama Rao emphatically argued that Southern states, which have effectively implemented family planning measures, should not be penalized.

On the social media platform X, Rama Rao made his stance clear, stating, 'I totally agree with Thiru Stalin and strongly support him on this. You cannot penalize the Southern states for religiously implementing family planning when the nation needed it the most. To execute delimitation without considering the efforts of the Southern states is not in the spirit of democracy or federalism.'

Rama Rao also proposed a shift in the delimitation criteria, suggesting it should reflect each state's fiscal contributions to the nation. He emphasized Telangana’s economic influence, noting that despite its relatively small population, it significantly boosts the national GDP. In response, Chief Minister Stalin echoed similar sentiments, warning that the current delimitation plans could disadvantage the South, and announced an all-party meeting to discuss the issue further.
