Chaos in Delhi Assembly: BJP Slams Opposition for Disruption

In a fiery session of the Delhi Assembly, BJP leader Parvesh Verma criticized the opposition for interrupting the Lieutenant Governor's address, terming the act a 'big crime' and calling for future restraint. Verma emphasized the sanctity of such speeches, condemning the opposition's actions as unprecedented in the last decade.

Proceedings reached a boiling point on February 25 as Speaker Vijender Gupta suspended 12 AAP MLAs, including Leader of Opposition Atishi, amid uproar ahead of the CAG report presentation. AAP members had interrupted the LG's speech, leading to their suspension and subsequent protests outside the Assembly.

The suspended legislators, holding posters of Babasaheb Ambedkar, chanted slogans against the state government. BJP MP Praveen Khandelwal accused AAP of undermining democratic norms and hinted at imminent revelations of alleged scams committed by AAP over the past 10 years.

Commenting on the denial of entry to the AAP MLAs at the Assembly, Khandelwal alleged that the party was uninterested in legislative deliberations. He insisted that their fear of exposure was driving their actions, accusing them of attempting to sow anarchy while forfeiting their right to participate in the Assembly processes.
