In response to the recent disturbing rape and murder incident in Hampi, Karnataka Police have ramped up security efforts throughout the affected area. The Superintendent of Police in Koppal, Ram L Arasiddi, spearheaded raids and document checks at local homestays and resorts in Basapura, Anegundi, and Sanapur.
Authorities have intensified their patrols and implemented stronger security protocols following the incident. The arrest of the third accused in the case, Saranabasava, 27, from Chennai has marked a significant development. He was located and detained by the Gangavathi Rural police, updates the official, emphasizing ongoing surprise inspections and the use of NDPS kits, noting, 'We've registered ten cases in the past three months.'
The Karnataka State Commission for Women has called for a detailed report on legal actions regarding the Hampi case, underscoring the gravity of the offense involving the rape of two women, including an Israeli national. The Commission has urged maximum punishment for the offenders to deter future incidents and enhance women's safety in tourist meccas.
