RBI Introduces New Rs 100 and Rs 200 Notes
The Reserve Bank of India will soon issue Rs 100 and Rs 200 banknotes featuring the signature of new Governor Sanjay Malhotra. While the design aligns with the existing Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series, previous notes of the same denomination will remain legal tender.

The Reserve Bank of India announced plans to release new banknotes in Rs 100 and Rs 200 denominations, complete with the signature of the newly appointed Governor, Sanjay Malhotra.
According to an official statement, the design mirrors that of the current Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series banknotes. The fresh issuance aims to streamline monetary notes under the leadership of Malhotra, who took over from former Governor Shaktikanta Das in December 2024.
Notably, all previously released Rs 100 and Rs 200 notes will continue to be accepted as legal tender, maintaining economic consistency while introducing the new signature. This move is part of the RBI's ongoing efforts to modernize the nation's currency.
