Empowering Homes: Zero Bills and Extra Earnings with Solar Scheme
Under the Pradhan Mantri Muft Surya Ghar Bijli Yojna, households will not only receive zero electricity bills, but also earn Rs 1,265 monthly, as announced by Minister Pralhad Joshi. The scheme offers significant subsidies on solar installation, making India a leader in renewable energy advancements.

The Pradhan Mantri Muft Surya Ghar Bijli Yojna promises zero electricity bills and an additional monthly earning of Rs 1,265 for households, New and Renewable Energy Minister Pralhad Joshi declared in the Rajya Sabha. The government provides a subsidy up to Rs 30,000 per kilowatt, reducing installation costs considerably.
Households can opt to finance the installation with full bank loans, incurring a manageable EMI of Rs 610. The initiative has slashed power bills from Rs 1,875 to zero, while increasing income through monthly savings.
India's solar sector has seen unprecedented growth, from negligible production in 2014 to over 70 gigawatts today. Joshi announced aspirations to soon reach 100 gigawatts and highlighted significant reductions in solar energy costs, setting India at the forefront of global renewable energy production.
