Lok Sabha Clears Supplementary Grants and Manipur Budget

The Lok Sabha has approved additional spending of Rs 51,463 crore for the current fiscal through supplementary demands for grants. This includes the Manipur Budget for 2025-26 and excess grants for 2021-22. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman emphasized debt repayment and reduced borrowing rates, alongside financial assistance for Manipur.

The Lok Sabha has passed supplementary demands for grants, approving an additional expenditure of Rs 51,463 crore for this fiscal year. This also includes the budget for Manipur for the 2025-26 financial year.

Through a voice vote, the lower house approved the Rs 1,291 crore demands for excess grants for the fiscal year 2021-22 and the Rs 1,861 crore supplementary demands for the Manipur budget for 2024-25.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman tabled the second batch of supplementary demands for grants, which include a significant Rs 5.54 lakh crore for debt repayment, aimed at reducing government borrowing rates.
