Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar announced plans to consult with party leaders regarding an invitation from Tamil Nadu to participate in an anti-delimitation meeting. Tamil Nadu Forest Minister Ponnumudi and Rajya Sabha member MM Abdulla extended the invitation during their visit to Vidhana Soudha today.
The proposed meeting in Chennai, set for March 22, aims to unite South Indian states against the Centre's Lok Sabha constituency delimitation exercise. The move, spearheaded by Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin, could reduce parliamentary seats in Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana.
Shivakumar emphasized the need for discussion within his national party before taking any steps, citing Tamil Nadu as an alliance partner with shared concerns. Stalin calls for collective action against what he terms a 'blatant assault on federalism,' urging regional unity in the upcoming joint action committee meeting.
