Guwahati (Assam) [India], March 12 (ANI): The Jogighopa Multi-Modal Logistics Hub, spearheaded by Northeast Frontier Railway's General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, represents a landmark infrastructure initiative under the Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal Master Plan. Positioned strategically in the Rangiya Division of NF Railway, the hub aims to bolster connectivity through enhanced railways and inland waterways.
The hub, comprising warehouses, cold storage, and customs clearance facilities, is intended to significantly boost freight movement. Located within close proximity to key trade gateways with Bhutan and Bangladesh, it aims to facilitate cross-border trade efficiently. CPRO Kapinjal Kishore Sharma reiterated that the terminal is critical for boosting regional trade, with India's Act East Policy playing a supportive role.
The project will initially consist of three rail lines, scalable to five, and will handle 50 rakes per month, moving essential commodities. Complementing these efforts is the Inland Waterways component, already operational, which aligns with plans to bolster industrial growth, supply chain efficiency, and reduce transportation costs in the Northeast. The anticipated economic benefits underline the significance of this infrastructure endeavor.
