On March 15, World Consumer Rights Day raises global awareness surrounding consumer rights—an occasion underscored by the initiatives in Gujarat aimed at safeguarding these very rights.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Gujarat has shown remarkable progress in consumer protection, with the state government successfully resolving over 18,000 disputes via the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission and District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions in 2024 alone. This demonstrates a focus on transparent and accountable systems to protect consumer interests.
The state has launched a dedicated consumer helpline, 14437, complementing national efforts like the E-Jagriti portal, underscoring its commitment to supporting and guiding consumers. Additionally, initiatives such as the Consumer Clubs aim to bolster consumer rights education, emphasizing sustainable living as Gujarat prepares for the 2025 theme, 'A Just Transition to Sustainable Lifestyles.'
