East African Community (EAC) finally scheduled for Feb 1

East African Community, which is an intergovernmental organization composed of six (African) nations – Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, South Sudan and Kenya – is all set to take place in its headquarter Arusha in northeastern Tanzania on Friday, February 1. The same meeting was earlier said to be taking place on (the postponed date) December 27 but later it was again postponed as the government of Burundi failed to send a delegation.

The new date for East African Community or EAC was confirmed on Monday, January 21 by the Minister of State in charge of the EAC, Olivier Nduhungirehe. "Yes, it [the EAC Summit] is confirmed for February 1st. It's the meeting of 30th November [2018] that was postponed. The agenda remains the same," he said to The New Times.

According to EAC Secretary General Ambassador Libérat Mfumukeko, all partners are willing to participate in the meeting and all the six countries are committed to moving in the same direction as far as the political integration is concerned. All Africa reported the key on agenda of the two aborted summits, which was the status of resolution of long outstanding non-tariff barriers (NTBs) and strategies to reduce used motor vehicles and textile imports.
