Gujarat Bids Farewell to Vijay Rupani with State Honors

With the draped flag of state honor, the last rites of former Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP stalwart Vijay Rupani were held in Rajkot on Monday. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, along with Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, were among the numerous dignitaries paying their final respects at the funeral.
Rupani received a 21-gun salute in tribute to his public service. The funeral procession started from his residence, concluding at the Ramnathpara crematorium. Meanwhile, Rajkot Police implemented tight security and traffic controls to ensure seamless proceedings. Earlier Monday, Chief Minister Patel had laid a wreath at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, marking respect for Rupani after his unexpected death in the catastrophic Air India crash.
Throughout the solemn event, family and political figures, including Health Minister Rushikesh Patel and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, gathered at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital's mortuary block to honor Rupani's memory. His wife, Anjali Rupani, bade an emotional farewell, accompanied by family. Son Rushabh Rupani expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support and reflected on his father's five-decade impactful political career.
