Delhi's Rs 950-Crore Road Revamp: A Path to Better Infrastructure

The Delhi government has initiated a significant Rs 950-crore infrastructure project aimed at overhauling 415 kilometers of the city's deteriorating roads. This ambitious proposal, sent for approval under the Central Road Fund, focuses on critical routes such as the Outer Ring Road, Mathura Road, Najafgarh Road, and Vikas Marg.

With repairs already completed on 150 kilometers, work is currently underway on an additional 100 kilometers. A senior government source confirmed that financial assistance from the Central government is being sought to speed up the project, with the goal of improving 500 kilometers of roads in the coming financial year.

Beyond road repairs, the project includes refurbishing footpaths and drains through an e-tendering process to ensure timely completion by 2026. In a bid to enhance road conditions, the PWD department recently filled 3,400 potholes in one day. PWD Minister Parvesh Verma emphasized the government's commitment to providing quality roads for citizens, encouraging them to report issues via the PWD's digital platforms.
