The Jammu and Kashmir Police have strategically installed facial recognition systems along the Pahalgam route in a move to enhance security for the Amarnath Yatra pilgrims. These systems offer real-time alerts to security forces if a blacklisted individual is detected by surveillance cameras. Roof Ahmed, an Anantnag resident traveling to Pahalgam, expressed gratitude for the heightened security, encouraging tourists to visit without fear.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police, in collaboration with CRPF and BSF, have established comprehensive security arrangements as the Amarnath Yatra commences on July 3, 2025. CRPF's multi-layered security plan includes intensified surveillance and K-9 unit deployment along the crucial Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. This route is vital for pilgrims and has been fortified, especially in sensitive areas like the Udhampur sector.
In preparation for potential emergencies during the pilgrimage, the Indian Army, CRPF, police, and JKSDRF conducted a joint mock landslide drill on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway. The exercise demonstrated efficient collaboration among agencies, focusing on timely evacuation and medical aid in a case of real disasters. This initiative underscores the administration's dedication to a safe and uninterrupted Amarnath Yatra 2025.
