The Additional Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation, Ratnakar Sahoo, alleged he was assaulted by a group of five to six individuals in his office. This incident has led to significant political unrest in Odisha, prompting the BJP to suspend five of its leaders, including a corporator, amid the controversy.
Sahoo, maintaining faith in the legal system, recounted the attack which occurred at approximately 11:45 AM. A group, led by corporator Jeevan, questioned Sahoo regarding behavior towards a person named Jagga Bhai, before allegedly assaulting him. An FIR was filed, and Sahoo expressed gratitude towards colleagues who intervened.
The BJP's response was swift as its media cell announced the suspension of five party members implicated in the violence at the BMC office. BMC Mayor Sulochana Das condemned the attack, emphasizing the need for safety and legal action. Odisha's opposition parties have also criticized the incident, urging immediate action from CM Mohan Charan Majhi.
