Devotees Flock to Temples Across India to Celebrate Sawan with Devotion

As the sacred month of Sawan progresses, Lord Shiva devotees congregate at temples in Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, offering prayers and performing rituals. The period, deeply significant for followers, is marked by traditional practices such as fasting and Rudrabhishek, with celebrations taking place nationwide.

In a wave of devotion, thousands of Lord Shiva's followers flocked to temples across Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh, partaking in the religious fervor that characterizes the holy month of Sawan. At Patan's renowned Somnath temple and Rajkot's Panchnath temple, large gatherings of worshippers commenced their day with prayers and hymns.

Devotees, believing in the month's spiritual significance, engaged in fasting, chanting Shiva mantras, and conducting the Rudrabhishek—a ceremonial act of bathing the Shiva Lingam with sanctified offerings. The Panchnath temple, with its 150-year-old history, witnessed a parade of faithful adherents honoring the deity early morning.

In Uttar Pradesh, the rush of spiritual activities extended to the confluence of the Ganga and Yamuna rivers, known as 'Sangam,' where many took a holy dip on Shravan Amavasya. The occasion is deemed particularly auspicious, prompting offerings, hymns, and acts of charity by the multitude who gathered. This period, revered across India, commenced on July 11 and will conclude on August 9.
