Bihar Achieves 99.8% Voter Coverage in Electoral Overhaul

The Bihar Election Commission announces that 99.8% of electors have been processed in the ongoing Special Integrated Revision (SIR) process. This significant milestone involves digitizing forms for over 7.23 crore voters. The Draft Electoral Roll will be released on August 1, 2025, with digitization expected to wrap up by then.

In an unprecedented move towards enhancing electoral transparency and accuracy, the Election Commission of Bihar has reported monumental progress in its Special Integrated Revision (SIR) process. As per the Commission's statement, 99.8% of the state's electors are covered under this ongoing initiative.

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) confirmed that forms from over 7.23 crore electors have been received and digitized. Their inclusion in the Draft Electoral Roll is anticipated for August 1, 2025. Completing digitization of remaining forms, mainly informed by Booth Level Officers’ reports, also sets this deadline.

The initiative marks a pivotal step towards ensuring electoral integrity, unveiling the list of electors who haven’t submitted forms, or are deceased or relocated, to 12 major political parties on July 20. Parties are urged to ensure timely corrections pre-finalization. Furthermore, findings since June reveal that 22 lakh electors are deceased, 7 lakh have dual registrations, and 35 lakh have permanently migrated or are untraceable. The successful execution of SIR's first phase credits a collaborative effort led by Bihar's CEO, underpinned by the engagement of district election officials, Booth Level Officers, and the encompassing participation from political entities and volunteers.
