Russia Warns Against Nuclear Strikes on Iran
Russia has expressed its concerns over the threats of new strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. These threats follow the bombing of Iranian sites by Israel and the U.S. in June, aiming to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons, a claim Iran denies. Russia calls for dialogue to reach a nuclear deal.
Russia has voiced apprehension over potential new strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, advocating for diplomatic dialogue to reach a nuclear agreement with Tehran. The statement was made amid ongoing tensions over Iran's nuclear program.
In June, Israeli and U.S. forces bombed Iranian nuclear sites, citing prevention of Tehran from developing nuclear weapons. Iran, however, rebuffs allegations of such intentions. Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, criticized threats of further strikes as hypocritical under the guise of nuclear non-proliferation.
Zakharova emphasized the catastrophic risks of bombings on nuclear sites and urged them not to become a norm in international affairs. She stressed that peace agreements and assurances against future attacks are vital to normalize Iran's cooperation with the U.N. nuclear watchdog.
