In a remarkable turn of events, a 7-year-old boy in South Delhi's Rajokri village emerged from a sewer and made his way home after a 24-hour rescue mission failed to locate him, authorities reported.
The distressing incident unfolded when local boys alerted police about a child falling into a sewer near Rajokri on July 31st. Extensive search efforts through the night, aided by multiple agencies and CCTV footage, initially yielded no results. However, footage revealed two boys running along the sewer—one stumbled into it and emerged unnoticed at an uncovered segment further down.
Efforts to identify the child involved circulating CCTV clips across WhatsApp groups, schools, and police stations. A breakthrough came the next day when a teacher from MCD School in Rajokri recognized the boy as a Class 3 student from Shera Colony. The boy recounted how he and a friend, both from the same household and school, played in the rain when he fell. He climbed out shortly after and returned home, unharmed. Police continue to investigate the incident's details. Meanwhile, in another case, Delhi Police reported a tragic incident in Narela where a man allegedly killed his 10-year-old son. The accused, Narender, informed his estranged wife about the murder.
