Swiss President Leads Tariff Talks in Washington

Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter met with Swiss and U.S. business leaders in Washington to discuss reducing U.S. tariffs on Swiss products. The meeting involved prominent figures like Severin Schwan and Daniel Jaeggi. Discussions on the tariffs were held with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, though details were limited.

In a bid to negotiate lower tariffs on Swiss products, Swiss President Karin Keller-Sutter spearheaded discussions with U.S. officials in Washington. The talks commenced with a breakfast meeting involving notable Swiss business leaders.

Participants included Severin Schwan, the Chairman of Roche, along with Alfred Gantner and Marcel Erni, who co-founded the Swiss private equity powerhouse, Partners Group. The meeting also welcomed Daniel Jaeggi, president of the energy company Mercuria, and Jens Fehlinger, CEO of Swiss International Airlines.

A government spokesperson confirmed that the delegation discussed tariffs but withheld further information. Talks with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio aim to ease these tariffs, potentially benefiting both economies.
