During the meeting, Fadnavis not only lauded Radhakrishnan's commendable service but also offered his best wishes. The Vice Presidential election, set for September 9, will be conducted under the supervision of Rajnath Singh, as confirmed by reliable sources. On the preceding Sunday, the NDA declared Radhakrishnan, the current Maharashtra Governor, as their pick, following a pivotal Parliamentary Board meeting of the BJP in New Delhi.

BJP National President JP Nadda expressed the party's intention to reach out to the Opposition to smooth the path toward a non-contested election. He emphasized ongoing communications with opposition leaders to secure broader support for Radhakrishnan's candidacy, underscoring a strategic move towards an unopposed election. This follows the vacancy left by Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation due to health concerns, effective immediately from July 21.
