Power Grid Corporation Wins Major Transmission Project Bid

The Power Grid Corporation of India has secured a project for establishing the 'Inter-regional (NR-WR) Transmission System.' This involves a new 765 kV sub-station in Prayagraj and transmission lines across Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. The project will be executed on a BOOT basis.

The Power Grid Corporation of India announced on Wednesday that it has successfully secured a contract for the 'Inter-regional (NR-WR) Transmission System' under a tariff-based competitive bidding process. The project aims to bolster the electricity network between various regions.

According to regulatory filings, the corporation received a Letter of Intent on Tuesday to proceed with this project. Key components include the establishment of a new 765 kV sub-station in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, and 765 kV D/c transmission lines running through Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh.

The regulatory statement highlights that Power Grid Corporation emerged as the successful bidder to manage the Inter-State Transmission System, specifically designed to alleviate the load on the 765 kV Vindhyachal-Varanasi D/c line, through a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) model.
