India Gears Up for Nationwide Voter List Revision

The Election Commission of India commenced a two-day conference in New Delhi to assess the preparedness for a nationwide Special Intensive Revision of electoral lists. Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar led the event, focusing on updating voter data and ensuring efficient management across states and UTs.

In New Delhi, the Election Commission of India began its significant two-day conference aimed at evaluating the country's readiness for a comprehensive Special Intensive Revision of voter lists. The event is taking place at the India International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Management and is being supervised by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alongside other senior election officials like Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Vivek Joshi.

This conference serves as a continuation of discussions from a previous meeting held on September 10, where state representatives delivered detailed reports on elector counts, last revision dates, and current electoral roll statuses. The Commission is scrutinizing efforts to integrate existing elector data with previous records to address any discrepancies.

In addition to data reconciliation, the Commission reviewed the appointment and training of district and booth-level election officers. Efforts to digitize voter rolls and rationalize polling station sizes to handle no more than 1,200 electors each were also evaluated to streamline the election process nationwide.
