Celebrating Valor: The Sekhon IAF Marathon 2025 Honors a Hero

The Sekhon IAF Marathon 2025, held in Gujarat, honored Flying Officer Nirmaljeet Singh Sekhon with a half-marathon and 5 km, 10 km runs. Over 800 participants joined the tribute event, flagged off by Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, celebrating the legacy of India's only Param Vir Chakra awardee from the Air Force.

The Sekhon IAF Marathon 2025 took place in Gujarat on Sunday, attracting a diverse group of participants eager to pay homage to Flying Officer Nirmaljeet Singh Sekhon. The event featured a half-marathon along with 10 km and 5 km runs.

Wing Commander BS Rathore announced that the marathon saw more than 900 registrations with over 800 individuals actively engaging in the races. This commemorative event aimed to celebrate the legacy and valor of Sekhon, the only Param Vir Chakra recipient from the Indian Air Force.

The marathon was officially initiated by Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southwestern Air Command, Air Marshal Nagesh Kapoor, who praised the participants' enthusiasm during the opening ceremony.

On a related note, Gujarat's Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched the 'Sardar@150 Unity March' on Friday to honor Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 150th birth anniversary. The march commenced from Sardar Patel Colony in Naranpura and concluded at Mahatma Gandhi's statue on Ashram Road.
