UAE to Expand LNG Exports Amid Growing Global Demand

The United Arab Emirates aims to meet domestic liquefied natural gas (LNG) demands while growing exports, as stated by Energy Minister Suhail al-Mazrouei. This move aligns with global rising demand for LNG, particularly driven by artificial intelligence, with expectations to reach 600–700 million tons annually by 2035.

The United Arab Emirates is setting ambitious goals to expand its liquefied natural gas exports while also satisfying domestic needs. Energy Minister Suhail al-Mazrouei announced the plan amidst increasing global demand, citing the gap between current projects and future demand.

During the Abu Dhabi Financial Week, Mazrouei agreed with Qatar's energy minister on the insufficient investment in production projects to meet the soaring demand for LNG. Both countries see a growing market with Qatar projecting demand to hit 600-700 million tons annually by 2035, significantly driven by technological advancements such as artificial intelligence.

The UAE's Abu Dhabi National Oil Company's investment arm, XRG, shared its goal to build a gas and LNG business with a capacity of 20-25 million metric tons per annum by 2035, underscoring the strategic ambition to become a key player in the global LNG market.
