IndiGo Crisis: Aviation Minister Promises Action Amid Operational Turnaround

In a pivotal address, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu took to the Lok Sabha today to discuss the unfolding crisis at IndiGo, following a similar address in the Rajya Sabha. The conversation centered on ongoing disruptions causing nationwide passenger inconvenience due to delayed and canceled flights.

Naidu assured parliamentarians that IndiGo's struggles stemmed not from aircraft maintenance issues but from crew rostering and operational misplanning. He stressed the importance of Civil Aviation Requirements designed to safeguard passengers and underscored that safety remains non-negotiable. The minister highlighted government efforts to enforce airline adherence to these measures.

Answering queries from Rajya Sabha member M Thambi Durai, Naidu expressed regret for the inconvenience and noted the government-imposed fare caps and action against unjustified price hikes. As IndiGo rebounds, operating over 1,800 flights, the airline declared improved planning and reduced cancellations, signaling a significant operational recovery.
