In a crucial address to the Lok Sabha, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu tackled concerns surrounding the ongoing IndiGo crisis, linking the airline's troubles to crew rostering and internal planning rather than systemic software failures. The minister spoke decisively, emphasizing commitments to passenger safety and regulatory compliance.
Naidu, speaking earlier in the Rajya Sabha, assured that strict Civil Aviation Requirements (CARs) are in place to safeguard passengers amid flight disruptions. He further clarified that investigations are underway concerning any technical software issues, reinforcing the need for continuous sectoral technological upgrades to meet global standards.
Highlighting governmental intent for a vigorous aviation sector, the minister warned operators of stringent penalties for non-adherence to standards. IndiGo, meanwhile, announced recovery strides, operating over 1,800 flights and restoring network connectivity, pointing towards operational improvements after days of serious disruption.
